For a digital illustration course last year, I was tasked with creating a bold and unexpected take on a distinct musical album. The goal: market the album to a completely new demographic. My album, one of Snoop Dogg’s oldest, was one of the formative rap albums of the 90s. It seems silly then, to renew the album cover in a highly illustrative, almost childish dog pattern. However, I enjoyed the ironic visualization and the challenge of making such an album seem marketed for young ones (although it DEFINITELY should not be heard by young ears). I sketched the dogs and lettering, translated them into Adobe Illustrator using Adobe Photoshop, and layered fill shapes over and under them for a coloring book feel. The circular emblem is the sticker that covers the middle of the physical record.
